The couple now have enough sons to eventually field a family baseball team, with three players still left in the dug out. Mr Schwandt, 39, who runs a land-surveying business, said: "Realistically, we knew it was going to be a boy. There was no big shock. You know, you kind of hold your breath a little bit, out pops the baby and the doctor says, 'It's a boy'." Remarkably, Mrs Schwandt has a sister who has given birth to 10 children, all of whom are boys. Dr Bob Barbieri, a fertility expert at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, described that as a "miracle". Mr and Mrs Schwandt were high-school sweethearts who married at the age of 18. They are devout Roman Catholics who for religious reasons do not believe in using birth control. Mrs Schwandt said they had "not closed the door" on having more children.
