有一句话不明白，用红色的部分，不理解“getting to close to Abe's price" 上整段话，有个语境 Avoid hubris Hubris is excessive pride. Hubris leads to nemesis. One must guard against excessive pride and the presumption that one is not susceptible to the pressures of the marketplace. Most of the people who became entrapped in scandal probably thought they would never fail or get caught or both. Abe Lincoln tells the story of throwing someone who was bringing him out of his office, not because the person was bribing him, but because the person was getting to close to Abe's price. It is probably true that everyone has a price. Even if that is not true, it might be prudent to act as if it were. That way one does not as readily succumb to environments where one is pressured into unethical activity. 不明白阿不明白……  |
