在考虑学会计的master,看到这两个方向但比较了一下,看不出有多大的区别,筒子们有什么样的理解
Master of Applied Commerce (Accounting)

Course Description

The overall aim of the Masters of Applied Commerce (Accounting) is to provide non-accounting professionals with advanced competencies, professional skills and knowledge in the accounting discipline in order to prepare them for entry into the accounting profession. The degree also aims to develop students’ understanding of, and professional skills in, knowledge bases and techniques in related disciplines including economics, management, auditing and information systems.

   
Generic Skills Gained / Objectives

On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
Demonstrate competencies, professional skills and knowledge in relation to contemporary accounting issues and practices;
Identify and demonstrate professional skills in knowledge bases and techniques in the related disciplines of economics, management, auditing and information systems;
Critically analyse and think strategically in relation to accounting and business analysis issues and problems;
Apply appropriate professional and analytical skills to address specific accounting and business issues; and
Identify and critically evaluate professional accounting and business issues emerging from strategic developments in practice and accounting regulation.
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to demonstrate the following attributes and skills:

Oral communication, including presentation preparation and delivery skills;
Synthesis of information;
Problem identification and analysis;
Critical thinking;
Problem solving skills collaboratively in teams;
Accessing information and evidence from a range of sources; and
Articulate responses in written form.

Admission Requirements

An undergraduate degree in any discipline, or equivalent.  


Master of Accounting

Course Description

The overall aim of the Masters of Accounting is to improve students' applied knowledge, skills and capabilities as accounting professionals and broaden students' horizons intellectually. The degree is designed to stimulate students' awareness of existing and emerging issues, and advance students' skills in identifying and solving accounting and business analysis problems of an applied nature.

Generic Skills Gained / Objectives
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

Identify and analyse the thinking and developments of leading contemporary accounting and business systems in relation to financial accounting, performance management, cost management, accounting-based equity security valuation, business systems and auditing, which are the six major accounting areas covered in this course;
Demonstrate advanced critical and strategic thinking skills, capabilities and competencies in relation to accounting and business analysis issues and problems;
Apply technical and analytical skills, using relevant decision frameworks and empirical research evidence, to address specific accounting and business system problems; and
Identify and critically evaluate accounting and business system issues emerging from strategic developments in practice and regulation.
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to demonstrate the following attributes and skills:

Oral communication, particularly in relation to presentation preparation and delivery skills;
Synthesising information;
Problem identification and analysis;
Critical thinking;

前一个学位不需要会计或相关的商科学士背景,后一个就需要。

为什么选墨大?local价也是太贵了,coursework的master哪里读基本一样,以墨大的学费来看,性价比不高,去monash就足够了。当然,如果是MBA的话就另外算。

学会计关键是看这个课程是否符合CPA/CA的认证要求。如果有条件,可以问问几所学校的学生。

多谢,主要是看到以前有筒子讨论applied accounting 的学习,melbourne的都推荐墨大的,说是含金量高些,我看了一下也觉得主要区别就是像你说的前一个学位不需要会计或相关的商科学士背景,后一个就需要,不知其他筒子还有什么高见

我觉得读书,学校名气蛮重要的。

在澳洲读书,coursework的master哪个学校都差不多的,我觉得都是学校骗钱的一种方法(至少IT和accounting是这样的)。那既然都学不到东西,还挑了个二流学校,仅仅为了省点钱,不值得。

如果是为了回国,或者去其他国家,那么名气大的学校自然占优势。

如果仅仅是为了工作的话,不读也罢,花那个时间和精力一点也不值得,还会被公司认为over-qualified。

那要看lz是什么身份读书,如果是Local,那学校之间的学费还是有差别的,总之我知道Mel U的accounting比我Macquarie U的accounting贵相当多,05年我入学的时候local学费贵了1/3有多。

如果是overseas,那分两方面考虑:
1、回国是否是超过30%的选择,如果是,读名校,那样不如在Syd U读,比Mel U便宜,名声一样好,还容易拿高分;
2、本人的成绩如何,如果基础就比较差,有些学校fail率高,13门功课中2门3门fail掉楼主就可以回乡写澳洲游记了,与其这样不如挑间比较好读的,把平时的GPA做大做强,不论回国还是在国外都是找好工的敲门砖。

我的建议,如果读理论研究型的,在墨大读,没意见!如果是会计这种应用性学科(只要懂dr. cr.的辩证关系,英文写作好,基本可以自学会计就可以做会计!),何必呢?

批判ls这句话:如果要做会计这行,就必须要读CPA/CA承认的课程,要读完13门功课才能参加CPA/CA的考试!如果没有CPA/CA的qualification,那根本就没有career path可言。所以,楼主如果要入行会计,脱长时间part time1门门读也要把课给上完了!会计读书挺辛苦的,扎扎实实需要做功课。

我不做会计,不是很懂。

如果仅仅为了参加CPA考试,那么是不是可以考虑读open university。如果楼主是PR,当年通过了CPA,ICAA之类的评估,那么似乎只要补几门课就可以了。

我的观点是读名校,因为我有这个情结

MQ的会计的确是好,不过据说fail率高,在读的学生都苦不堪言,而且一定要有C
PA才授予硕士学位的吧。

墨大是我心目中澳洲最好的学校,可以无缘就读了。。。。。

In Macquarie accounting, my lecturer in business law is a barrister; lecturer in company law was SM of PwC, director of a second-tier bank; lecturer in taxation law is a barrister, leading scholar in international taxation, trainer of China Taxation Bureau and CPAA fellow; lecturer in corporate accounting was manager in PwC, manager in Macquarie Bank; Lecturer in managerial accounting was manager of Liquor Land's supply chain, MD of a major RSL club; Lecturer in accounting information system is GM of Quantas IT company, was working in Arthur Andersen.

在我劝导下,无一朋友去读Mel U,按我的话说,不如把钱花了在澳洲玩一圈!

我PR过来是评估NATTI的,我大学是念英文,但工作却是会计(更加证明,会计不需要到学术研究很高分的大学修读,应该到侧重应用型的大学)。Open university,差几门不够去读还可以,13门重头来就有点玄了。

MQ的fail率高是因为MQ的入学要求低,四个大字“自 然 淘 汰”!MQ读会计苦是苦,但是便宜!比悉尼大学便宜1/3!周围的物价水平也比市中心的学校便宜。而且我太喜欢MQ的大草地了,全悉尼最大啊,哈哈哈哈~~~对于我来说学位什么时候到手不是问题(在此纠正MQ的Master of Accounting不一定需要CPA考下来才可以,CA考下来也可以,嘿嘿~~~)...所以MQ是我不二选择。

如果楼主回国打算去Big4或者外企工作,那Monsh和Mel U没有区别,都赶不上英美Top10,甚至香港Top3,跟国内本科生一个起点,笔试机会按GPA和简历决定;面试是否能成功以表现出来的综合能力为准衡量。

如果去国企或者机关事业单位,人事处大妈估计只知道Mel U和Syd U了,其他一概不知。不如在国内买个合作办学的文凭划算。
