The court heard defence claims that police had failed to properly investigate the crime and had been concentrated in the "single-minded pursuit" of Xie.
 
 It was told despite the largest forensic investigation in the state's history, no definitive DNA evidence had been found linking Xie to the crime.
 
 Hair found in the hands of the victims and DNA taken from the power box at the family home both failed to provide any connection to the accused man.
 
 The court heard police believed a lone killer cut the electricity before bludgeoning the family to death in the night.
 
 Xie, who has been in custody since his arrest on May 5 last year, appeared today via video link from Long Bay jail and was supported in court by his wife.
 
 The bail hearing continues this afternoon.
 
 No DNA linking man to Lin murders
 
 NO DNA evidence has been found linking the man accused of the bashing murders of the Lin family to the crime, a court has heard.
 
 The Supreme Court was told recent test results on items taken from the family's North Epping home had failed to provide any DNA connection to Robert Xie, 48, who was last year charged with the murders.
