Stayed up in 113km gusts
We had a wild night when a southerly buster came through. The tent held up well through 3 hours of 70km winds with gusts up to 113km. We got out of bed and held the corners up from the inside through the worst of it (no idea if it would have been ok if we hadn’t done that). We had it well pegged out and the awnings down in preparation for the winds. The walls and corners did roll around a lot but I was surprised it was still standing when it was all over. Folks next to us had their gazebo fly ripped of its frame and their tarp shelter ripped off its poles, and there were caravans blown off their mountings.
I loved my little instant up 4p so much I recently upgraded to this 6p (didn’t go 8p or 10p as they’re unnecessarily big for us, plus I love the oversized side awning on the 4p and 6p which we use when we don’t take a kitchen gazebo). They’re easy to set up, pack down, and fit it all back into the bag when you’re done. I just hope the strong winds that baptised my brand new 6p didn’t weaken the poles in any way. Time will tell.

This tent is well made and well designed, excellent ventilation, quality zippers, easy to put up. My only issue with the tent is that it can't take much wind, there is only provision for 1 guy rope each corner, and we had the frame collapse inwards with 35km hr wind gusts. Which isn't that strong really. So a good tent for a sheltered spot. |
