林暋的妹夫谢连斌(Robert Xie)



林暋妹妹林姝(Cathy Lin)与丈夫谢连斌(Robert Xie)就住在距离林暋家300米远的Beck St。

林姝来澳前曾是香港国泰航空驻广州办事处的经理助理，谢连斌则是一名医生。他们通过家庭团聚来到澳洲。

2001年，谢连斌在墨尔本东南远郊Berwick开了一家名叫Foodstar的自助餐厅，但因他雇佣的三名中国厨师工作签证被移民部取消而被迫关闭了餐馆。

谢连斌和林姝夫妇目前帮忙打理这家书报店。公众的关注和同情使这家书报店目前的生意比以往任何时候都要好，Epping的当地民众尽己所能多光顾这家书报店以帮助林家的生意重新走上正轨。

但从案发的那一刻起，一切都已不会和以前相同。

近七年来站在柜台后面微笑待客的林暋已经再也不会回来了。。。

BRAVE-faced Kathy Xie was the very model of a friendly neighbourhood newsagent as she stood behind the counter where her murdered brother had worked seven days a week until his savage murder a month ago.

A broad smile disguised the crushing grief of her family's ordeal but while she was happy to chat with customers she refused to make any comment about the five Lin murders or the police investigation.

Kathy and her husband Robert, who live 300m from the murder scene in North Epping, have been placed under strict instruction by the family's solicitor not to make any further public comments.

"We cannot talk to the media for two weeks - that is in the contract," Mr Xie said, referring to conditions of a television deal.

Mr Xie then returned to his Beck St home with two male friends who had been helping at the shop earlier.

Asked whether he wanted to renew the appeal for the public to help the police investigation, he again refused to make any comment.

Back at the Rawson St newsagency Mrs Xie was busy attending to the lunchtime rush for Lotto tickets as window cleaners scraped away old posters plastered to the glass.

In their place a sign went up advertising a job for a casual worker. Public sympathy alone has ensured the newsagency is busier than ever, with locals determined to do all they can to support a family's heart- wrenching efforts to get on with life.

Mr and Mrs Xie have had a crash course on running the shop from the Newsagents Association and, while trade has been brisk, they know it can never be "business as usual".

If that were the case Min Lin would still be standing behind his counter, greeting customers with his own disarming grin, as he did day-in, day-out for almost seven years.

The Xies now put in the same hours, far removed from the executive floors of Cathay Pacific in Guangzhou, where Mrs Xie was assistant to one of the airline's managers. Mr Xie was a doctor in China.

The couple followed their relatives to Australia.

In 2001, Mr Xie opened a buffet restaurant, Foodstar, in the Melbourne suburb of Berwick, but it closed after he lost his fight with the federal government over work visas for three Chinese chefs.

He told the Migration Review Tribunal he needed the chefs to take the restaurant upmarket or he might have to close and, with the Chinese restaurant business booming, there were no suitable candidates here.

The Tribunal said it was not satisfied Mr Xie would upgrade if he were successful, as he had done nothing to improve it in the year since lodging his application.

悉尼两家主要大报《悉尼晨锋报》和《每日电讯报》互相竞争“斗法”。

《每日电讯报》在今天抢得这则头版头条独家新闻：一封匿名举报信。

《悉尼晨锋报》不久就在其网页上刊出另一则新闻，称警方否定这封信的存在。

今天下午，《每日电讯报》网页又针锋相对登出下面这条新闻，援引林家委任律师沈寒冰的话说，沈律师确实已将这封详细写有两名疑凶名字的匿名信转交给警方，而且是两周之前。

沈寒冰表示，专案组可能是出于某种考虑而予以否认，他也不会因此而责怪警方，他认为警方的调查工作已经做得很好。
　　




Lin family lawyer confirms he passed murder letter on to police

LIN lawyer Daniel Sheen has broken his silence today to confirm he passed on a letter naming the family's alleged killers to police.

"I have passed a number of letters to police,'' he said.

Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Geoff Beresford today appeared to contradict today's report in The Daily Telegraph, which broke the story of the letter's existence.

"There was no letter given to police by Mr Sheen as referred to in the media article,'' Supt Beresford told a news conference.

"Investigators have not received any letter from the solicitor as indicated in the media reports."

However, Mr Sheen said he handed over several letters, including one which named two alleged murderers, about two weeks ago.

They may have fallen "through a crack'' in the police investigation, but Mr Sheen said he was not critical of police.

"I think they are doing a good job,'' he said.

The two-page letter is apparently one of many which have flooded in since Mr Lin, his wife Lillie, their two sons and Mrs Lin's sister Yun Bin "Irene" Lin were found bludgeoned to death in their home last month.

Written in English, it was sent to Mr Sheen's World Tower offices and immediately passed to police, a family source told The Daily Telegraph yesterday.

"(Mr Sheen) received a letter naming two people. It had a lot of details," the source said.

"It's not his job to find the suspect. It is his job to look after the family. He gave the letter to police."

Earlier, Mr Sheen had declined to comment. It is understood that he and the Lin family have been gagged by an exclusive deal with Channel 9's 60 Minutes program, believed to be worth $200,000.

But the lawyer broke his silence today after police denied receiving the letter.

Supt Beresford criticised a constant "drip feed" of leaks about the investigation, claiming the Lin family had not been made aware of any letters before today's report.

He said investigators were in "constant contact'' with Mr Sheen and the family, and had spoken to the lawyer this morning.

"I am not at liberty to  talk about the nature of that conversation we've had with him - that's confidential,'' Supt Beresford said.

However, Mr Sheen denied keeping Lin family members in the dark, saying they had been fully informed about the letters.

媒体竞争白热化对于公众也许不是坏事，至少对于关心林家灭门案的众多华人来说，我们可以获悉更多的消息来源。

但愿一些警方不愿在目前公开的消息走漏之后不会对抓捕罪犯产生不良影响。无论如何，感觉这个案件似乎已经露出真相大白的一丝曙光。。。

警察的考虑，是完全有道理的，尤其是在处理这种案件的最关键时刻。

怕凶手逃跑？那律师不该公布这个信啊，是要公众都激烈讨论而走漏消息凶手逃走，还是要悄悄破抓到凶手？

律师怎麽会有麻烦呢，只有当这人是唯一的知情者，杀他才能解除威胁。现在是律师已经把信交到警方，他不再是唯一。退一步信仍在他手并未交警察，杀他也没用，你不能控制发信者不会发第二、三封信。

估计是警方做的局。这封信肯定有，这么严重的案子律师不敢独自妄为的，估计警方收到信后，对相关对象做了些外围背景调查，还拿不住啥破绽，目前手头的资料既不能肯定，也不敢轻率否定，所以让律师出来放料，敲山震虎，观察嫌疑人反应再定行止。

有小道传闻林家与华人和越南黑社会有来往 否则很难解释这样专业的灭门报复 抢epping club的只是凶悍一点点抢匪 凶手能够不留线索也没有邻居能察觉 不是普通劫匪能做到的 一般猜测凶手早已离开澳洲或者离开人间了  

还有人说林家人被害之前是被下了药的 所以没有意识去反抗呼救 可见凶手非常专业

我觉得这份匿名信是有的。一者沈律师不至于蠢到那这种灭门命案打哈哈坏自己名声。二者警方的否认可以理解，破案前对公众发布的信息那些该讲，那些不讲，讲到啥程度都有讲究。
把英文举报信寄到律师处这种方式让我疑惑。如果是中文好理解，许是举报者不谙英文要转一道。既然懂英文何不直接寄到警局让警察争取宝贵时间擒凶。我估计这信得作者可能是华人，信对破案的价值也值得怀疑。

本人担心案件大白天下的时候就是华人名誉扫地之时。到时候所有人会把中国人和洗钱，黑社会，职业杀手联系在一起，但愿这不是真的。
