我出手了一辆，自己推迟到十月底拿车。
网上通过网站找到西区的一个报价，然后打电话到local dealer，dealer提供三年免费service且match price。
加了五百块，换了颜色，三百块加uv膜。
家庭不需要太大的车。所以最后决定出手这辆。
以下是早上在英文奇瑞车脸书群组的留言。
I just went through the process of deciding on a new car, and honestly it was a bit of a rollercoaster.
At first, I was leaning toward another Japanese small SUV. But in the end, I went with the Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid. Why? A few reasons.
First, the value. The Chery saved me more than AUD 10,000 compared with the Toyota, and that’s a big deal for a family. The design looks great, the driving experience feels solid, and even small details like the indicator being on the right-hand side (same as our old car) made it feel very natural for me. That was also why I didn’t consider Great Wall(Haval) or MG seriously.
Of course, I still had concerns. Things like depreciation, long-term reliability, and maintenance costs after 7 years are real questions. With Toyota, you kind of know what you’re getting. With Chery, it feels like more of a risk.
But the decision wasn’t only about numbers. In my family, there’s some history—our elders lived through Japan’s invasion, and there are still strong feelings about that. Personally, as a Christian, I don’t hold that against Japanese people today, but when my wife was hoping for a Toyota, I took time to pray about it. In the end, I felt peace choosing the Chery. Funny enough, the name “Chery” in Chinese carries the idea of “奇” (amazing, like “Amazing Grace”) and “瑞” (good, auspicious). That made me smile.
Another factor was the future of cars. Who knows where things will be in 5 years? Solid-state batteries, new EV tech—hybrids may or may not hold their value. Spending over 40k on another car feels safe today, but what if the market shifts? At least with the Chery, I spent less, enjoyed the car now, and left myself room to change in the future if the EV world really takes off.
So last weekend, we placed an order for the Tiggo 4 hybrid Urban, with delivery expected at the end of October. Looking forward to driving it with the family soon.
