(This is a must read for those who have been told by their employer to apply for an ABN and work as a sole trader)
i am getting increasingly frustrated over hearing about employers telling their full time employees to work as sole traders (holding ABNs).
to keep things simple,
The reasons employers want to do this are most likely:
1. wrongly advised by their accountant.
2. to get out of paying superannuation.
3. to avoid paying workcover for its employees.
4. to not pay PAYGW tax
ALL THE ABOVE ARE ILLEGAL AND.....
ALL THE ABOVE AFFECTS YOU AS AN EMPLOYEE.
full time employees who were paid salaries but now trading under ABN are potentially at risk of
1. working at a lower income than before
2. missing out on superannuation they are entitled to |
