Hybrids gain momentum in October market 6 November 2025 Australia’s new vehicle market remained steady in October with 99,588 sales recorded, up 1.2 per cent on October 2024. Year-to-date sales stand at 1,014,027 – down slightly (1.1 per cent) on the same period last year. The standout trend for October was the sharp rise in hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles. Hybrids represented 17.8 per cent of sales and PHEVs 4.7 per cent. Battery electric vehicles (BEV) from all sources represent 7.3 per cent. This is a 25 per cent growth for hybrids compared to October last year and 95 per cent for PHEVs, while BEVs remained stable.
