刚搬新家,以前都是用房东的Broadband Internet, 第一次自己加如宽带计划, 所以做了一些Research. 最主要的是Research website 是whirlpool.net.au,还要定下我的Budget. 我的Budget 是$100 per month both both telephone (excluding mobile) + Internet per month. Data Limit is 40G minimum, must be ADSL2+ speed. Provider/Plan 下面是我的Top 3 Choice, 都是ADSL2+ speed Provider Plan Peak + Off-peak Quota Costs/Month 1 iiNet Naked DSL Home 5; 40GB + 60 GB $89.95 2 Internode Home-Naked Extreme 40; 40GB $84.95 3 TPG ADSL2+ Super 2; 40GB + 110 GB $69.99 Telstra Basic Landline; $20.95 Total = $90.94 Internode最贵, TPG最便宜,但是要付Testra 最便宜的Landline, $21/month, 打电话另外算. 而且我妹妹家用的就是TPG, 感觉特慢, 尤其是晚上6点以后. 所以考虑再三, 还是选了iinet的naked DSL. Hardware 先定下我的requirement: ADSL2+ Modem /Wireless Router/Voip support Research: Whirlpool.net.au 选择有Netgear, Billion, D-Link, again Whirlpool community把Billion BiPAC 7404 VGP(M) 排得很高, NetGear DG834G虽然排名第一, 但是它没有VOIP功能,而Billion, 所有的都包括了, 而且新足迹的用户对它反映也很好, 就选它. 就买了 Billion BiPAC 7404 VGO(M) - $225; shopbot.com.au有比它更便宜的, 但是得付邮费. 如果想买电脑配件给的, 推荐 Jimmy Song (中国人老板, 取了个Aussie当老板娘) Century Technology Pty Ltd Suite 306, 107 Walker Street North Sydney NSW 2060 (02) 9929 3680 Email: centurytech@cityit.com.au Installation 这是最失败的, 足足等了4个星期, iinet要用Telstra Technician来装, 因为是新房子,所以步骤居多. 1. Call iinet to join in iinet services, they book a Telstra Technician to connect my telephone (1.5 weeks) 2. Once connected, call iinet to select and choose naked dsl plan. (1 day) 3. Can't choose naked dsl plan, since I am a new iinet customer, they have to set up dial up account for me first, then upgrade to naked dsl later. (2 days) 4. Book for 2nd Technician to come to disconnect my telstra connection (waited for another 1.5 weeks, technical never turned up, they say sometimes they don't need a technician to come, but you have to prepare in case they do?!) 5. Chase up everyday with iinet for 3 days, finally they told me my naked dsl account is ready to go. 6. Tried to set up myself for 2 days without any luck, says my login/password is incorrect. 7. Called iinet, they advised me my login/password was correct but for dial up services, they need to upgrade to naked dsl?! Finally they upgraded my services and it worked straightaway. (1 day). 8. Tested voip telephone it works perfect. Conclusion 由于Telstra的参与, iinet的customer services 显得很差了, 但是其实都是因为rely on unreliable third party services. Installation 要花2/3百块, 再加上Modem. iinet customer support是24/7的, 这点还是不错的, 而且电话等的时间也不是太长. Billion不是iinet recommended modem, 但是它完全可以用. Bottomline: Monthley Download limit: 40G peak + 60G off-peak + Free iinetphone services, 打local phone, interstate phone (any landline) FREE; monthly costs = $90.
