google中国“善意”表示，其新输入法曾使用第三方数据源

看到这个消息，我真的非常吃惊。感觉google中国的一句善意回复包含了太多的欺骗在里面了。搜狗的词库，不是公共资源，不经过正确的解密，是没有人能够使用的。google的行为，如果没有经过搜狗的授权，那就是偷，不但偷，还破解别人的加密，盗为己用。

我没有用过搜狗拼音，我觉得google拼音挺好用，但是出了这个事情，看着google中国的善意，我感觉再用它，实在是disgusting。

This is so sad. I feel very very bad about this...

I guess this is done by these programmers privately. If so, I think they should get sacked.

And I'm sad because这件事反映了中国IT业目前的道德水平之低。连Google招来的程序员都能毫无廉耻地直接盗用别人的词库。。。怪不得什么3721之类的东西满天飞。没有一个这方面的大的进步，越来越多的IT公司会撤离中国的。。。

Google善于偷窃早就不是什么新闻了。我知道的一个RMIT的计算机教授投了一篇学术论文，里面是关于搜索算法改进的，后来他知道论文的reviewer里面有Google的科学家，后来他就凭直觉发现他的算法被Google采用了。把他给气的，可惜他没有直接证据。
他老人家现在逢人就大骂Google。

Dude, Google could just buy it out. Last year a search engine invented by a NSW university student was bought by Google. And Google has lots and lots of cash in its hand at this moment, it can buy almost anything. Why would they want to get into trouble with the law if they could just pay and not to worry about anything ever after? And if the algorithm invented by that RMIT professor is actually anything good, he must be working for Google now for maybe 10 times the pay he's getting now?

I believe this Google China incident is isolated. However it's bad, very bad. I hope whoever responsible for it should get punished accordingly.

兄弟，这个世界上不是人人都只为钱的，据我所知很多教授如果去工业界混绝对比现在能多赚几倍，可是他们只对research有兴趣，包括我以前的导师。
你也不要把Google想得太过美好了。Google是有钱，这不代表他们什么都那么规矩，也不代表他们想买什么就能买什么。否则他们为什么不买搜狗的词库呢？你一厢情愿地把这一事件看成是一孤立事件，希望Google不要让你失望。

首先，我觉得还是要把google中国（取一傻名字谷歌）和google分开。这个本土化的东西除了从google那里拿钱之外，有没有继承google的创新传统，还不好说。

二来，我也觉得这个事不是孤立事件。如果说只有那个开发人员自己知道真相，其他人都不知情，有点不可信。谷歌为什么要用别人的词库，显然是产品开发、测试的时候发现这个输入法的效率有问题，就会叫开发人员改进，但是因为词频不可能短期生成，也没有什么固定算法，开发人员短期内改进它的唯一方法就是偷。

当最后这个产品被神奇的改进了，就算老板不知道底下有人偷了东西，对于输入法精度的改进如此迅速，老板就一点不怀疑？

传sogou要求谷歌停止输入法宣传和下载，作为谷歌真正为中国用户做的第一件事，搞成这样，真让人心里不舒服。当然对普通用户是好事，毕竟知道了国货里也有值得别人偷的东西。呵呵

I understand your point. However based on what I know about Google, I still believe the company is committed to the greater good and won't do evil things. Hopefully Google China can give everyone a good enough response to what happened.

http://ditu.google.cn is the Chinese version of Google Maps. Awesome stuff.

Google Pinyin...the reason I suspect this is isolated is that for IMEs, dictionary is pretty much common while much of the logic are built in the code; the logic (decision flow?)is what makes an IME different from others. Dictionary/database takes a long time to create from scratch and does not really matter that much technically; thus for a programmer who does not have much respect to copy rights, the most convenient way is to steal one, then focus on refining the logic.

Google China updated to its own dictionary the second day after this is discovered, so most likely they have a separate team developing the dictionary/database while programmers are doing the programming. That's why they can upate in a day. Removing fingerprints then publish as its own is way too dangerous - who knows how many fingerprints are there! They miss one, got caught again, it would be toooooooooo ugly for any manager to risk.
