Boy dies after school stabbing
February 15, 2010 - 1:30PM
A 12-year-old boy has died after being stabbed by another teenager at a private Catholic boys' high school in Brisbane's north.
Police confirmed a knife was used in the attack, which occurred at St Patrick's College on Park Road, Shorncliffe, about 8.30am.
The victim suffered a puncture wound to the chest and was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane but later died.
Police said they were speaking to a boy, who is aged in his early teens, about the incident.
He has a minor self-inflicted stab wound to the neck and has been taken to Redcliffe Hospital, police said.
They would not confirm whether he is under police guard.
The school is not commenting but the school peak body the Religious Institute has confirmed the incident and is preparing a media statement.
Earlier this month, a 15-year-old boy was charged over a stabbing at Spring Hill in inner Brisbane.
A 16-year-old student from St Joseph's College was stabbed in the thigh with a knife on February 5.
The college says he was attacked by a student from another school after he refused to hand over personal items. |
