The Australia Competition and Consumer Commission has announced a recall for the 2010 Nissan X-Trail and 2011 Nissan Dualis.
The recall was issued due to a potential problem with the vehicles’ electric power steering system. There have been reports of the system suddenly ceasing to operate. If this occurs, a warning light illuminates on the dash and the steering becomes heavier.
According to the ACCC, the electronic control unit could be prone to failure and has the potential to cause steering problems.
The power steering unit is used on ‘T31′ Nissan X-Trails made between August 6, 2010 and October 30, 2010 (JN1TANT31A0101544 -JN1TANT31A0101995), as well as ‘J10′ Nissan Dualis vehicles made between October 5, 2010 and January 31, 2011.
Nissan will contact the owners of vehicles that are affected by the recall, and will ask customers to take their vehicles in to have the potential issue rectified.
CarAdvice has contacted Nissan Australia in regards to the number of vehicles affected in Australia and we will update the story when we hear more. |
