Good on him, enough of these drunken fools taking advantage of people, not just taxi drivers.

Maybe if this drunken passenger hadn't made a mess of himself and the taxi he wouldn't have been kidnapped. I'd imagine that the taxi was unusable after the event. Not unfair to ask for an extra fee.

I think he overreacted in this case, especially if Mr Bunyan vomitted only outside the cab. However for cases where the passenger is too intoxicated and throws up inside the taxi, there should be a clean up fee. Its ridiculous how many people throw up inside taxis. Should they just put up with it? I think this court case should be thrown out. Both sides were in there right to act on what they thought was right.

The justice system favours fools! The judge should place him/herself on the position of the cabbie who is just trying to make a living.

I can't believe what I am reading. You think it is okay to be kidnapped, to be taken against your will somewhere else and to be attack by three other people. If the taxi driver believed he deserved an extra fee for cleaning take the guy to the police station. What the taxi driver did was unthinkable and he deserves to be punished for it.

He is a cab driver he should be used to having drunk people in his taxi. He had no right to kidnapp the passenger just because he threw up. It is better that he throws up in a taxi than drink drive and run into someone and kill them.

I think it is horrible that this person takes another to the family to have him beaten what country are we in...Of course vomiting in the taxi is not on outside it perhaps he asked the taxi driver to stop and not speaking good english didn't stop maybe!

Is that what you would teach your kids (to those commenting that the taxi driver was within their rights)? It is certainly reasonable to request the clean up fee but the refusal of paying such can be pursued by other means. By condoning the taxi drivers actions you are suggesting that people can take the law into their own hands and outlay their own justice, whatever they see fit.

Though I dislike drunk bums, we do live in Australia and it will never go away. There is a simple fix though ... puke bags in cabs. Problem solved.

He should have driven his non-paying passenger to the nearest police station. Not the other side of Sydney so the drivers family could assault him.

By law, taxis aren't supposed to pick up intoxicated people. Check the legislation. It's the taxi operators risk whether the person vomits or causes any other damage to the vehicle. Not defending the passenger, I think he should have paid to have the car cleaned, however you can't go and kidnap someone and assault them.

Regardless what happin Zhang taxi he has not right to drive the person to his home in Macquarie Fields. If his wife and parents got into the taxi and struck the passenger and demanded money then they should be charged as well. What happen if they struck the passenger and he died. Sorry this is not normal behaviour and could have ended up worse

If someone is drunk and throws up in a cab and refuses to pay, drop them off at the nearest cop shop. This is kidnapping and assault and the taxi driver had no right to do this.

Drivers have a right under the law to ask for a clean up fee, its about 1 hours waiting time last time I remember, good on the driver, the cops don't do much when asked to intervene in these matters, they only get on the side of the hoon.

Ok so the dunk guy acted like a fool, but is that a reason to beat him up??? simple answer is No. I'm sick of these taxi drivers who think they can just do whatever they want, they give the good drivers a bad name. unfortunately it is usually the foreign drivers that do this sort of crap. this Driver should be locked up for a few years and then deported!!!
