Launched today at the Detroit auto show, the fourth generation Pathfinder abandons its predecessor's boxy look, ladder-frame chassis and heavy duty all-wheel drive underpinnings, adopting a softer shape and a modified version of the Murano SUV's monocoque platform to become a more urban-oriented crossover.
So far Nissan has only confirmed the Pathfinder will be offered with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine. However, a turbo-diesel option also appears certain.

The new Pathfinder will also be offered in both two and four-wheel drive, however it will continue to offer seven seats standard across the range. Crucially, Nissan promised the Pathfinder would continue to have a substantial towing capacity, although no specific numbers were revealed.
