Australian based absolute return Funds Manager established in 2007
Fund focuses on the largest and most liquid listed industrial, materials, energy and food companies in the developed markets in the Asian time zone

The successful candidate will have a strong fundamental analytical background in energy equities, an exceptional work ethic and the ability to generate stock specific ideas from a coverage universe of over 100 listed equities in the region. The successful candidate will also need to have conviction in their analysis to sell their ideas to the investment team, drive high Sharpe ratio returns and share in the rewards of a meritocracy.
The position will report to the Senior Equities Portfolio Manager.

The Role
• Responsible for energy sector equity and industry commodity supply/demand analysis
• Responsible for over 100 companies with US$900bn of market capitalisation in the Asian region
• Financially model and present investment ideas to the investment team
• Travel internationally and domestically to relevant investment conferences and meetings to source industry and company specific information
• Develop company, corporate and industry relationships and maintain regular dialogue
• Work accurately with a sense of timeliness
• Maintain a precise calendar of upcoming events, earnings results and company meetings
• Earnings and data point preview and review analysis
• Opportunity to earn trading discretion and run own sector sub portfolio

Skill set
• Ability to adapt to fundamental investment process
• A strong desire to achieve goals, manage risk and ultimately become a portfolio manager
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills
• Ability to work independently and also as part of a team

Experience/Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a large fund manager or a global investment bank
• Tertiary qualification in Finance/Commerce
