The Database Services team supports the delivery of reliable, recoverable, high performance database management systems for the bank group’s business applications and provide Technical and Analytical support on a 24 x 7 basis.

We are seeking an SQL Database Administrator to join the Database Services Team, to provide first-line of service engagement to our customers and deliver excellent customer service.

This role will require flexibility and willingness to work between the hours of 8am – 10pm Monday to Friday and weekend on-call support based on a roster.

Major Accountabilities include:
•SQL-server Helpdesk and ensure Database, System and Application SLA’s are achieved with minimum impact
•Support development, testing and production database environments
•Install and configure Database systems, patches and upgrades.
•Liaise with customers and perform system, backup, recovery and other database requirements.
•Recoverability testing performed at regular intervals
•Monitor and report on Database service availability and performance to ensure optimal service levels
•Project engagement as per Enterprise Database Services standard
•Assist with the implementation of application software releases and other projects.
•Support all major implementations throughout the year within the timeframes set by each specific implementation.
•Implement policies and procedures to govern corporate database operations and related issues.
•Database Systems are kept at industry best practice and competitive levels


•Experience required:
•Ideally a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in Database Administration and operational support for SQL Server 2005 and 2008R2 or 2012, including SSRS/SSIS/SSAS.
•Experience in supporting large-scale (preferably in finance industry) systems in a mission critical environment is highly desirable but not essential.
•Database monitoring and troubleshooting using various toolsets
•Experience in changes, incidents ad problems handling
•Experience in preparing processes, procedures and documentations   
•ITIL knowledge and practice in IT environments (highly desirable)
•BMC Remedy Action Request System for Incident, Problem and Change management (highly desirable)
•BMC Control-M for Enterprise batch scheduling (highly desirable)
•Sarbanes-Oxley Database Compliance (highly desirable)
